
Effie Nkrumah
Biography
Effie Nkrumah, also formerly known as Benumah, is an energetic and charming actress, interdisciplinary artist, writer, poet and lover of food brought up in Gadigal and Darug countries.
She is the voice of Astra, the first Ghanaian and only Sub-Saharan African Agent in Valorant by Riot Games (creators of League of Legends).
She is a published contributor in Maxine Beneba Clarke’s Growing up African in Australia anthology and holds an MA in Arts Politics from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
She returned to Australia after a number of years stage managing and choreographing for Ghana’s leading theater company, and joined the groundbreaking community engagement team for the second season and tour of seven methods of k*lling kylie jenner.
Her poetic and artistic practices rely on memory and the archive and are driven by the concept of challenging the single story of Africa in diaspora, creating work that is entertaining, aesthetically pleasing and discussion prompting. Her installation series See What I See has been performed in Sydney, New York and Accra.
She is currently at Hogwarts as a swing in the Australian Cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
